Ephraim Tsalik is the VP and Chief Scientific Officer for Infectious Disease at Danaher Diagnostics, and is currently serving as Chief Medical Officer, Cepheid. He obtained his MD and PhD from Columbia University. He then completed clinical training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Duke University while earning a Master of Health Science in Clinical Research. Dr. Tsalik joined the Duke University faculty in 2011, rising to tenured associate professor, where his research focused on host response biomarkers for infectious disease, supported by DARPA, DTRA, VA, CDMRP/U.S. Army, and the NIH. He has been a member of the Antibacterial Resistance Leadership Group since 2014, serving in various roles including Associate Director of the Laboratory Center and serving on various committees including the Steering Committee, Executive Committee, Diagnostics Subcommittee, and Innovation Subcommittee. In April 2022, Dr. Tsalik joined Danaher Diagnostics as the VP and Chief Scientific Officer for Infectious Disease to help realize the future of infectious disease diagnostics. He is a Fellow of the IDSA, remains clinically active at the Durham VA Health Care System, and maintains an adjunct appointment with Duke University.
