Ammar is the SVP of Government Affairs and Market Access (GAMA) at Cepheid. GAMA’s work is focused on demonstrating the compelling value of Cepheid’s testing portfolio to healthcare systems, governments, and payers supported by robust clinical and economic evidence to accelerate clinical adoption.
Before joining Cepheid, Ammar worked for Illumina, where he served as Vice President, Global Market Access, since late 2016. In that role, Ammar built Illumina’s Market Access team into a global, strategic organization driving reimbursement in reproductive health, oncology, and genetic diseases to more than one billion lives globally. Before joining Illumina, Ammar was the Vice President and Global Product Team Lead at Halozyme Therapeutics, a biotech company focused on oncology. He was instrumental in revamping their lead biomarker-driven oncology program strategy, leading to new clinical development programs and a major partnership with Roche/Genentech. Prior to joining Halozyme, Ammar spent nearly 20 years at Bristol Myers Squibb in global, regional, and country-level roles of increasing responsibility including Country Management, Marketing, and Market Access where he worked and lived in six countries across North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
Ammar earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Jordan, Amman, and completed the Columbia Business School Marketing Excellence Program for Executives.
